Over 30 years agone, the "Drug-Free Art/Calendar" contest was designed to involve children, from kindergarten through loftier school, in an effort to educate the nation'southward youth on the dangers of substance abuse. With the support of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and Rural Housing Services, the scope of the contest has increased dramatically and at present includes Elderly, Disabled and Special Needs residents. The art/calendar competition is an activity that not only helps to ensure the health and well-beingness of our residents, but information technology also goes a long mode toward maintaining a positive public perception of your belongings and community. The project is sponsored by AHMAs throughout the country and NAHMA.
Entries are judged on the artist'southward ability to create a submission with the contest theme. While the general purpose of the program is to promote existence drug complimentary, the theme for artists to portray on their poster changes each year. This yr, the theme is: Happy is Healthy: Nutrition and Fitness Propel Us Frontward. Judges consider: INTERPRETATION of the theme Happy is Healthy: Nutrition and Fitness Propel Us Forward; ORIGINALITY of submission; QUALITY: Is the artwork submission appealing to the eye; OVERALL ARTISTIC ABILITY: Does the artwork submission testify some degree of creativity and skill for its historic period grouping; REPRODUCTION: Can artwork be reproduced with reasonable quality and clarity.

The 2022 Drug Gratis Poster Competition rules can be found beneath:
Winners volition be selected from across the southeast with a First, Second, and Tertiary Place ranking per category. Categories include:
•Kindergarten - 1st Grade
• 2nd Course - 3rd Grade
• fourth Form - 6th Grade
• 7th Grade - 9th Course
• 10th Grade - twelfth Form
• Elderly / Disabled/ Special Needs
FIRST PLACE CATEGORY WINNER
$400 prize with winner plaque
SECOND Identify CATEGORY WINNER
$200 prize with winner plaque
THIRD PLACE CATEGORY WINNER
$100 prize with winner plaque
WINNING SITE COORDINATORS WILL RECEIVE A $50 PRIZE
Winner'south property volition receive a $100 prize to host a celebration for the community to laurels their winner.
Winning posters are sent to NAHMA to be included in the National Contest. National winners volition be featured in the 2022 NAHMA Agenda and will receive carve up prizes as designated past NAHMA.
FOLLOW THESE RULES TO PREVENT Affiche DISQUALIFICATION
1. All Contestants submitting artwork must exist a resident of a community that is currently a fellow member of SAHMA.
two. While nosotros encourage community activities to brainstorm the theme and competition rules, entries must be created past the individual without assist. All submissions must be original.
three. The 5 course categories for children are based on the form level the contestants will take completed past June 2022:
· Kindergarten - 1st Class
· 2nd Grade - 3rd Grade
· 4th Class - 6th Grade
· 7th Grade - 9th Form
· 10th Grade - 12th Course
4. Elderly participants are residents 55 and over who live in a SAHMA customs. Disabled participants are residents of any age who live in a SAHMA community. Special Needs participants are residents of whatever age living in permanent supportive housing or an 811 customs. Participants under xviii, will exist considered with their peers in the form-level categories.
5. Artwork must be submitted on a 22 in. x 28 in. poster lath or heavy art paper (portrait or landscape layouts accepted).
6. Any medium may be used (paint, crayons, colored pencils, collage, etc.) but must be protected against damage.
7. Employ this year's theme as the focal point of the affiche to convey a positive message.

x. A Participant Data Form and NAHMA RELEASE FORM must be completed, legible, and attached with tape to the dorsum, upper correct-manus side, of each submission. 11. All posters submitted to the SAHMA Part go the holding of SAHMA and NAHMA, who have the right to use the fine art for publicity, publications and advertisements. POSTERS WILL NOT Exist RETURNED.
12. All entries MUST exist received past the SAHMA Function no later than Fri, April eight, 2022
13. Prize and Plaque will exist mailed directly to each winner.
